![]() EggsNits are lice eggs that are laid near the base of the scalp. Nits are similar in size to a sesame seed, about 0.8mm in size and look similar to dandruff. Femail Lice will lay their eggs with a glue like substance, which makes them difficult to remove and nits emulate the colour of their host’s hair making them hard to spot. Nits hatch within 6 to 10 days of being laid.
| ![]() NymphsWhen an egg hatches a nymph is born. Nymphs are smaller versions of adult lice. Growing nymphs must feed on human blood several times a day to survive. A nymph will molt until they read their adult size. | ![]() Adult LiceA fully grown louse will be 2.5-3mm in size. They are transparent and will appear to be the colour of the hosts hair. They move from hair strand to hair strand, or head to head, by crawling. Females will lay around 5 to 10 eggs per day for a month. |
